I love something that train operators hate: scribbles and doodles on public trains, on walls and windows. Every doodle (I think the guys who do that call them tags) tells its own story, it expresses the character of the artist, it is individual, it makes our urban environment feel somewhat more ‘organic’ because it destroys the perfection of an industrially produced surface. I spent a few hours today playing with various pens and markers and I found Eddings to be the perfect tool. Eddings are the tool of choice of the artists on public trains, too. I DHL’d the ‘designed’ laptop sleeve to Edding’s headquarters in Hamburg today because I am hoping to strike a deal with them so we can afford to include an Edding in every Papernomad we send out – for you to ‘design’ your own laptop sleeve in an instant.
